What do your heads include?

The heads come complete with valves and springs installed and are fitted with brand new valve stem seals. The heads can have cams, trays, and lifters installed upon request and for additional charges.

Do the heads have a warranty?

Our heads include a one-year, UNLIMITED MILEAGE warranty. The heads are fitted with a heat tab to signifiy if any overheating has occured. If the heat tab is melted, removed, or altared, this signifies the head has been overheated again. We highly recommend you find the fault that caused the head to overheat in order to prevent the new/refurbished head from overheating. If you do not return your core, you do not have a warranty.

What has been done in the reconditioning process?

First, we inspect each head individually when it arrives at our shop. The heads are stripped and the parts along with the head are cleaned in a "bath." We don't sand blast the heads as it poses a risk to the coolant chambers. Heads are then pressure tested and those that are fit for reconditioning then go into the seat department where the Serdi seat cutters cut your cylinder head with the renowned 3-angle valve job. If the head needed to be straightened, this is the stage in which it is performed. At this same time, the valves are being inspected and are then polished to a brilliant mirror shine by our valve department and the springs are tested. The cylinder head is transferred over to the resurfacers who then resurface your head in a manner different to most machine shops. Rather than one bulk pass, a few small passes are made to ensure the bare minimum necessary is removed from your cylinder head (keeping it as close to BMW original thickness as possible). After it is resurfaced and cleaned again, the valvetrain parts are assembled into the head with new valve stem seals. The head is vacuum tested to ensure the ports have optimum sealing and the head is wrapped ready to be unwrapped by you.

How do I know which head fits my car?

If you're unsure which head fits your car, you can call us or email us and we can help you pick the correct head for your car. Usually supplying us with the last 7 digits (or characters) on the VIN number will be enough for us to determine what head you need.

I don't see the head for my car on your site, do you have it?

We have a few heads that are not listed on the site that we carry in stock, so if you don't see it on the website, it doesn't mean we don't carry it. Call or email us and we'll get you back on the road as soon as possible! If by chance we can't supply you a head, we can repair yours for you.

WARRANTY:  

Autohead Performance warrants its products to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of 1 year. The cylinder head core must be returned upon receipt of the purchased head.

This warranty is extended to the original purchaser only,  provided the product has not been altered or neglected and has been installed and used in a normal and appropriate manner. The cylinder head includes a heat tab on it and may not be melted, altered, or removed. The buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy for any defect or failure of the product, shall be the return of the product with proof of purchase and shipping charges pre-paid, to Autohead Performance.

Autohead Performance will, upon inspection and at their discretion, repair or replace the cylinder head if it is found to be defective.  Autohead Performance is not liable for loss or damage incurred during or through installation.

RETURNS:

Autohead Performance is NOT responsible for incorrectly ordered parts. Please confirm your casting number first!  

Returns on parts will be subject to 20% restocking fees, with no shipping/freight credit. Restocking fee will be assessed on the total after shipping/freight has been deducted.  

Do not refuse your shipment, as you will be responsible for any additional shipping charges incurred for the refusal.

Once the product has been received at our warehouse, it will be inspected and you will be credited for the returned product less the applicable restocking fee and original shipping charges.
